“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him

and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” - Col 2:6-7

The goal of this ministry effort is to build up the men of Lakewood Ranch Baptist Church

through the following means:

Intentional Discipleship: Men will meet once a month with their group to discuss topics

that relate to spiritual growth and leadership development. The word “intentional” is

important. Men who participate are expected to make every effort to attend this monthly

meeting. The meetings will take place for four months in the Spring (February-May) and

then four more months in the fall (August-November).

Study and Reflection: God has gifted the church with many wonderful authors over the

years who can help us know and love him more. Throughout the year we will read eight

books together. Each book’s theme will match the topic for that month. Meeting

discussions are based on the book so take your time as you go through it and make note

of sections that are particularly meaningful to you. In addition to reading the book and

participating in the meeting, you are also expected to memorize one verse of scripture

each month. Practicing scripture memory will help you to fulfill the command from

Colossians 3 to “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”

Quarterly Men's Events

We believe men struggle to pursue biblical manhood by falling into two extremes: we can be authoritarian—using our strength and positions to domineer over others. Or we can be overly passive—abdicating responsibility to lead in the home and the church, and the result contributes to the wide-spread feminization of men in our society. This is why we have a men’s ministry. Biblical manhood is both taught and caught.

Our men get together once a quarter, typically on a Friday or Saturday.

We normally do outdoor activities like kayaking or Top Golf. We have also eaten our hearts out at a Cuban pig roast, but the manliest thing we do each time is have a member share how Jesus has impacted his life.
